The integration of any OLAP solution to a General Ledger is critical to the reporting
and operational effectiveness of the solution. Many General Ledger manufactures
having got this wrong, has resulted in clients developing and integrating their own
OLAP reporting solutions. Saying this, there are also instances where a turnkey
OLAP solution has to be created. An example of this would be where an international
company consolidates the Trial Balances from different international subsidiary
company general ledgers which have different structures. Often local reporting requirements
can influence the selection of a general ledger and hence the solution.
